UPDATE RE: LAUNDRY ROOM/CRAFT ROOM

So I've made a little more progress in my laundry room and craft room today. I moved the cupboards that were on the other wall, dispersing of one because it was a cupboard and a half I'd guess you would say. I got a good coat of green paint on so now the upper half is complete except for about the cupboard and the cupboard needs a second coat. I also moved our computer desk into the room as we are not using it anywhere else and would be a temporary fix until my desk is made.

I also wanted to mention this great rug I had bought when I was home visiting my parents a couple weeks ago. I bought this from JUNGLE IMPORTS where my oldest sister Alyssa works. This rug was $18 and I think it’s from Thailand. You can see Indian sari's sewn into this rug.  IT’S AMAZING! My little sister Annie-Megan also has an amazing rug with more tons of purple in it.  My rug has the perfect green that picks up in the wall colour perfectly. Not only are these rugs so diverse and can be used in any area they are pretty, soft and cushy, a real piece of art that has a story. LOVING IT!

A few days ago I started painting the basement. I wanted to paint a couple walls to get the feel of what I wanted. I think the grey looks amazing and we will be staying throughout the basement.

I also changed the light all by myself at the bottom of the stairs. Pretty proud of myself and all the hard work I have been accomplishing in the basement.

Welcome to suburbia, the reveal

I haven't posted any pictures of how our house looks from the outside. Frankly it was because I didn't have any pictures, but this morning since it is so beautiful out and we have less snow I thought what better to post about the exterior of our house. I also wanted pictures to start planning landscaping and curb appeal to our rather out dated home. Obviously we didn't purchase the home for the exterior look but OH MAN DO WE HAVE ALOT OF WORK TO DO!
So enjoy the pictures I will comment on them all and discuss plans we have throughout the photos and feel free to leave me your suggestions on what to do to the exterior.

Our front shutters need a good new coat of black paint, as well as I’d like to find a set of shutters for the window below to create balance. I'd also like to place a big green window planter box under the living room window. The front door I plan on painting green as I did to the interior side of the door. Id like to remove the screen door but Craig insists it has to stay which I hate a metal screen door on your front door. I'd rather see your main door painted in all its glory. We would also like to change our house numbers and update the light. Since our house is Grey brick, Grey siding, White trim, and the decks are brown. We would like to stay with grey, black, white and green. To unify the space.

We also need to re-shingle the house this year.

This probably the best photo of the house. You get to see the side deck and sunroom too. I am definitely removing the cedar ball bushes from beside the tree and would like something more simplistic like this

Coming off the front cement slab is 5 uneven and not the same size patio slabs. I do believe they were poured there which I’d like to remove. Beside the edge of the driveway is this odd section of gravel, Id either like to fill this back in with grass or create a long pathway that runs down the length of the driveway.

This is our side yard. We are planning on removing the gate as we have 2 sections we'd like to fix up the second gate to the backyard and remove the front gate to allow access we need to get the car in there. There are 2 great big planters there that I think I will repaint and use somewhere.

We have this great pile of bricks that we are not sure what we will do with yet.

This is our little fish pond in the backyard. We plan on redoing the rocks around it and fixing up the fountain. As well as removing any garbage or junk around it. Hopefully our fish have lived through the winter.

We plan on removing this flower bed from around the tree as it cuts the backyard up and you'd have to walk all the way around it to get to the back deck.

This is a look down into the ravine and the old dog house that is full or something, Craig thinks it's a outdoor canopy or tent.

There is Kane in the side yard. We need to fix the grad up to the house on this side.

A look at our back deck and pond.

A view of our backyard looking over to our neighbours Georgiana's.

Pond fountain close up. LOOKS HORRIBLE!

I have 2 of these planters as well that I think I am going to paint black and place on the front step.

3 views of the back patio deck. We plan on jacking this up to make it level as well as replacing the railing and probably painting it.

So there you have it our lovely suburban home that needs alot of cleaning up.

One Happy Man

I just had to share this. Nothing could make a man anymore happier that buying a BBQ. That's just what Craig did. I think he finally feels at home in our first house now that he has his new pride and joy out in the sun room. This thing took us almost 2 hours to assemble and can cook 35 burgers at one time. He even said he wanted to bring the BBQ into the bedroom so he could sleep with it. LOL that didn't happen but we have ate 2 meals now on the BBQ and will probably for the next week, any excuse to BBQ something. Hes one happy man.
Nothing could be cuter than the next 2 pictures of our son Kane (almost 20 months old) eating his first Hamburger. We usually feed him hot dog wieners cute into 4s and then cut into small chunks but he saw my burger and asked for some. I think he really liked the pickle and bun on it but the pictures are priceless and cant wait to print them at the Kodak kiosk at Wal Mart.

A Look Into My Living Room

My mom is excited to see my living room artwork hung, so I did it today. So here is a look into my living room and I will discuss what my plans are for it. So here is the round about view of my open living room.

Yes we have a futon. We haven't been able to afford or agree on a new couch yet and I've been watching kijiji but just haven't found anything worth purchasing yet. Hopefully soon we will be able to purchase a couch, until then our futon and day bed work well for the 3 of us. I plan on removing those grey curtains as they are not the right length for the window and are a temporary fix for the evening sun that sets directly in the window. I want to get white curtains for spring/summer and use the grey fabric I bought that Jean (Craig's Mother) is surging for me for fall/winter curtains. They are a heavier fabric and more dramatic, so they would be perfect for the rich warmth of fall and winter decor. I would like to move my day bed to the basement for either the rec room or our future office space. The rocking chair might go in the rec room as well still undecided at this point in time but I will be keeping it as it was a gift when I was pregnant with Kane. To replace the daybed I would like to get 2 chairs for in front of the window. Similar to these please note the picture is one from my inspiration book so sorry for the glare.

I love when you put 2 chairs side by side and put 2 end tables on each end, instead of a table in the middle. I'm open to any style of chair just something comfortable with great shape and structure. I'd like to pull some more green into the room as well and plan on making Green accent pillows.

I would also like to remove the black carpet, Craig purchased this lovely item. I was hesitant because I knew it would show everything and it does, not only go I have to get on my hands and knees to really scrub the rug with the vacuum, it seems like I have to do it twice a day. Craig and I were talking and we would both love a big chunky coffee table for our rather large living room. Because our living room is longer than wider and opens to the kitchen and dining room side we would both like a sectional but I think I would like a couch with the chaise lounge on the end. Something like this:

But not RED. maybe a deeper shade of grey
This picture is pretty much what I'd want except with 2 chairs and different colours
This couch is amazing, I love the colour and the shape. BEAUTIFUL

Were the TV is now we would like to put in floor to ceiling bookcases to better organize and display stuff. I think I might also line the back of the bookcase with gorgeous wallpaper.
This is the look out from the living room down the hallway and to the kitchen and dining room. We need to work on the kitchen still but we are slowly making things flow better. I will post later on what our plans are for the kitchen. Until then lets hope I can get the living room done soon. I can’t wait for Yard sale Season to start. Getting way too excited!

One lucky Shopper

Today I was invited to go shopping in Orillia with Tim and Jean (Craig's mom and dad or the in laws) as Craig is on nights and sleeps all day anyways, so I decided to go. I had a great day shopping and visiting with Craig's grandparents and parents. So here I wanted to share some of the items I had purchased today. I'm one of those people that when I want something I find it on sale my sisters are quiet jealous of my shopping habits but I can’t help it, I love it. As you all know I've been getting more into the green lately not only is it a great accent but it will definitely freshen the house up and GUESS WHAT!.....  that's just what I found today so here we go.

#1. I got this great soap dispenser at the liquidation place on the highway for $3.50 perfect for by my kitchen sink.

#2. I got these 2 Tall mugs that are Brown and Green at Stokes in the Orillia mall. I paid $1.44 a mug they were originally marked at $8.99 a mug. They both say break and pause on either side. I can’t wait to have a big mug of white hot chocolate or blueberry green tea.

#3. I also got this pair of amazing mugs for $4.98 at Stokes. I’ve never seen these kind of mugs before that have a spoon that sits in the handle. There going to be great for guest. Then I got thinking after we left what a great present they would make and why didn't I buy more.

#4. At fabric land I got 5 different fabrics and I also got 4 sheets of the best teal felt I have ever seen for only $32. That's over 11 meters of fabric. The felt I will be using for a later project hope all goes well and I will post about it. I also think I will make some pillows, curtains for my craft room/ laundry room and an apron out of my fabric. The picture doesn't do the fabric justice you need to see it in person as 4 of them have tons of my green in them.

#5. I got this pack of 4 hammered metal napkin rings for $3 at the liquidation place on the highway.
#6. I also got this green and grey table cloth for $5 at the liquidation place. I have to wash it still but i just put it on the table so you could see it better.
#7. I got this great table runner for $3 at the liquidation place as well.
And sitting on that new table runner is my new old silver rimmed bowl I got at the salvation army last week for $3 filled with faux granny smith apples that I got 3 for a dollar.
I hope everyone enjoyed my new purchases and remember everything can be purchased in moderation, I certainly don't by everything I need at once. I look and purchase things I LOVE.
